When darkness comes. By: Nick Baikie ©. |

When darkness comes with A serrated edge And bloodshot eyes I can see my granny Glowering at me Through the netted curtain Of her 1st floor bed-sit My screams go un-answered and she Turns away, reaching to Turn out the light But now the black of night has Entered her domain Breached the protection The light once gave I pause, her bedroom door-handle In mid-turn under My sweaty palm Hastening on, I enter The hall light flooding Into the darkness of the room Turning the black to mere shadow Once more I am Too late - She is gone, lost - a soul Out of place in This harsh un-relenting world And as always now I awake Only to fall back again Into my tortured sleep Back < |
